Resume
OBJECTIVE
In the next five to ten years there is an inspiring opportunity to re-imagine news and information experiences for diverse formats; I want to be a part of the interactive movement that helps reconnect audiences who have turned away from the traditional forms of print and broadcast media.
EXPERIENCE
Los Angeles Times, 2008 to present I joined a newly formed crew of video journalists, hired to produce original, character-driven stories for Los Angeles Times online (LAT). I work solo on video projects, responsible for pitching concepts to editors, shooting the story and editing the final production. My video duties expanded when I was selected to join a special interactive team. The website wireframes I designed became the framework for several interactive packages, including an ongoing investigative piece on the drug war in Mexico, called Mexico Under Siege.
49th Parallel Productions, 2004 to 2007
An award-winning multimedia production company I co-founded with my partner, Sean Connelley. We developed online feature packages for the Bay Area newspaper group, ANG Newspapers. We oversaw all our projects from conception to completion. My responsibilities included: preliminary research and developing a team, which included collaborating with editors and reporters, outlining the initial design concepts, fund raising, shooting & editing video, laying designs out in flash, and finally, ensuring the smooth operation of the final launch.
Real-People casting, 2002 to 2005
As an RP Casting Director, production companies and advertising agencies hired me to find people that weren’t actors, or looking to be actors, but were willing to share interesting true stories that embodied the ideology of a new product or business. I traveled extensively throughout the country, often working on the fly in unfamiliar locations, with extreme deadlines and budgetary constraints, responsible for shooting & editing preliminary interviews and presenting the story-candidates to clients. The stories and people I found have been featured in commercials for clients such as: Disney, Gillette, and Wal-Mart.
